It’s that time of the year again- influenza season. And many Americans can prevent hospitalization during this time of the year by simply going to get a shot.
Each year Americans have to make a simple decision on whether or not to get the influenza vaccination. Gina Adasiewicz is a Public Health Supervisor for the Dakota County Public Health Department in Minnesota. She see’s different reasons for people choosing not to get the flu shot.
Gina says this is one myth that they really try to work on. The other reasons she see’s for not receiving the flu shot is that some people believe if they get the flu shot that they will still get the flu. They don’t see the flu as being something that is a big deal.
She is hopeful for Obamacare, and that it will help those who can’t afford medical needs such as the flu shot.
The flu shot is something that not everyone is aware of. Gina explains what exactly the flu shot does.
